Vũ Cầu Cuối Tuần

Nhằm mục đích phát triển phong trào Vũ cầu cho mọi giới trong cộng đồng người Việt tại Victoria. Hội Phụ Nữ Việt Úc kết hợp với Badminton Victoira đã tổ chức các buổi Vũ cầu ở những địa điểm sau:

Trong dịp nghỉ học vừa qua, nhiều gia đình của “Nhóm chơi mà học” đã có một ngày cùng vui với các gia đình Thổ dân Aboriginal của Úc tại Collingwood Children’s Farm.
Tại ngày lễ của “Tuần lễ gia đình cho người Aboriginal và Islander” có rất nhiều hoạt động theo văn hóa của người thổ dân. Đây là lần đầu tiên các bé và gia đình Việt Nam được chiêm ngưỡng những người thổ dân nhảy xung quanh đống lửa theo điệu nhạc rất lạ mà hấp dẫn. Ngoài những trò chơi như vẽ mặt, tự làm vòng đeo tay, dây đeo tóc thì điều hấp dẫn hơn cả cho các bé là cuộc thi vẽ trang trí trên Boomerang. (Một vật dụng từ xưa đã được sử dụng trong việc săn bắn và trong cuộc sống của người thổ dân). Cuộc thi này đã thu hút nhiều bé của nhiều sắc tộc cũng như các bé thổ dân. Mỗi bé tô vẽ theo sự tưởng tượng của mình với nhiều màu sắc sặc sỡ của người thổ dân cho tác phẩm của mình.

Australia Day 2011 Award - Woman of the Year - Trần Đăng Thanh Khâm

Each year, City of Yarra Council calls for nominations from the community for Yarra's annual Australia Day Awards.

The awards recognise individuals and groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the Yarra community whether through community service, or service in the fields of sport, arts and culture, environment or business and economic development.

In 2011, the awards include a Woman of the Year category for the first time.

Woman of the Year - Trần Đăng Thanh Khâm 

After arriving in Australia as a refugee with her husband and children in 1979, Khâm has worked tirelessly in both voluntary and paid roles to assist the settlement and integration of newly arrived Vietnamese people into the local community. As one of the founding members of the Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association, Khâm has dedicated her life to supporting new immigrants by connecting them with services, skills training and education assistance to help them make the most of their new life in Melbourne.

Outstanding International Women Day Centenary Celebrations

On March 4th, 2011, the Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association celebrated the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day in a big event at Fitzroy Town Hall. The event combined the history of Western women’s struggle for equality since the 19th century with the celebration of the heroic achievements of the Trung Queen in Vietnam in 1st century AD. Seventy students from several secondary schools joined over 200 adults in exploring in concurrent discussion groups, the leadership skills and personal qualities relevant to today’s women, also the need to reconcile Eastern and Western values and attitudes and to support the identity and aspirations of young people . The forum highlighted the awareness of the importance of positive contributions to the community, courage and compassion, initiative and self confidence to achieve success. In particular, an appreciation of the Vietnamese cultural heritage and tradition is crucial to maintaining the links between Australian Vietnamese youths, the elders & forebears. There were traditional dances and songs and a lively ao dai (Vietnamese tunic) competition for mother and young child(ren) teams.
