COVID RELIEF APPEAL FOR VIETNAM OUTCOME

Dear Donors,

Thank you for your generous donations in response to the call of the Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association to raise funds to support COVID-19 victims in Vietnam.

At first, our Association promised to match any amount raised up to $20,000. But since donations very swiftly surpassed the $20,000 mark, so the AVWA Committee of Management decided to double the amount the Association would match to $40,000.

As of 13/09/2021, AVWA had received a total of $42,945 in donations. With $40,000 matched by AVWA, the total amounted to $82,945.

608 raffle tickets were sold. Less expenses and cash prizes, a total of $2,443 can be added to the above sum, totalling $85,388.

To date, AVWA had sent $42,271.31 to Vietnam to buy essential food packages for distribution. The food packages were bought and delivered directly to the poor people in need thanks to the tireless effort of Sister Ngoc Nu and Sister Rosa Lan (Binh Thanh district, District 8, and many other locations), Father Nguyen Buu Khanh (My Hoi, Phu Hoi Commune, Nhon Trach Dong Nai), Father Tran Thanh Viet (Thiet Nham, Long Tho Commune, Nhon Trach) and Father Nguyen Hong Phuoc (District 3).

AVWA is also liaising with two hospitals and several other charities located in Saigon. After MOUs are duly signed, we will transfer all money raised as soon as possible, preferably in the next two weeks. In the first week of October, AVWA will make a final report on the amounts sent, to whom or which organisations and the goods and equipment delivered to support the people of Vietnam. The names of donors will be updated.

To increase the amount of donations, the Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association will extend the end date for receiving donations to 25^th September 2021.
