AVWA Gambling Harm Awareness Week 2022

On Friday 21/10/2022, AVWA’s Gambling Counselling and Gambling Prevention hosted an information session for Gambling Harm Awareness Week 2022 with the support of Sunshine West Community Centre.

This session is a great opportunity to raise awareness of gambling harms and learn more about other available services. Supporting this year’s topic of mental health and gambling, AVWA partnered with Brimbank Council especially Sunshine West Community Centre, Western Bulldogs’ Program included Sons of the West and Daughters of the West to introduce recreational activities in North and Western Melbourne. AVWA’s other services such as Jobs Victoria, Training, Carers Employment Support and Family Violence Prevention also involved in this event.

Participants were actively involved with our quiz activities about information we provided in the session. We also provided refreshment to participants for light lunch. Participants finished our helpful information session with gift bags contains program leaflets/brochures and gifts.

Special guests at the event

After Gambling Harm Awareness Week 2022 outing with support from Sunshine West Community Centre, we hope to destigmatise gambling harms in Vietnamese community, as well as encourage seeking professional help behaviour with wrap-around support from AVWA, Brimbank Council and Western Bulldogs.
